Hi Tom

It is not just our disagreement over shoulder rotation, I have other serious disagreements with Teacherman, He does not accept the fact that the angular displacement rate of the hand-path (CHP) is a major factor in the generation of bat speed. This alone tells me that his concepts of swing mechanics are seriously lacking.

As far as you and I are concerned, I think the differences between your analysis and mine is mostly a matter of semantics. If I correctly understand your position, you describe the shoulder motion that powers the swing as “shoulder tilt” whereas I describe it as “shoulder rotation.”

I will use the overhead clip of Rose to explain why I call it shoulder rotation. Although I use the Rose clip, the following would apply to all overhead views of a high level swing. – I would see the batter’s head and neck remains fairly still during the swing. I would also note that the shoulder sockets revolve around the fixed head. – Why am I wrong to refer to this as “shoulder rotation?”
