Re: What generates hip rotation

Jack

The true question should be what generates the most efficient hip rotation that would contibute to the smoothest and easiest swing. If your back foot lifts and turns towards the pitcher the hips must turn without the use of the the large hip muscles. When the swing begins in the waist it goes out to the feet and up to the shoulders and is not as efficent as it could be. Experiment for your self and lift your back foot and turn it and see if you can keep your hips from turning.

I realize that this is a bit off what you are trying to explain but I think the forward momentum of the turned back foot contributes to bathead speed through effiecent movement of the body as well as better extension of the arms which gives a longer hitting area.
