Hi Jack

You brought up a few points that I had not thought of with the impact location and the inertia. This can also be seen in baseball when a person incorrectly hits off a tee. If a person hits off a tee with the ball in the middle of their stance, like many young players do without supervision, their swing becomes much more upper body and less hip drive. It can also be noted because of overcoming inertia of a pitched ball the lower body needs to be more involved in that swing then to achieve the same results as hitting off a tee. Players must be reminded constantly not to get lazy when hitting off a tee for this very reason.

Thanks for your thoughts

Dave
