An excellent post about the swing plane, jack! My personal view about the swing plane is that if you are trying to hit fly balls your bat dips out of line with the lead shoulder (Arod in clip), and if you stay within yourself and focus on hitting the ball on the ground up the middle, like you say, you create a more consistent swing plane
