>>> Why would you have shown that you can rotate the bat back with THT without shoulder rotation? It doesn't work that way. The bat remains cocked or stays at a 90 degree relationship with the lead arm while the hips start. The elbow is lowering as the hips begin rotation, the bat doesn't arc backwards during this time. The bat doesn't arc until shoulder rotation. <<<

Hi Shawn

You asked “Why would you have shown that you can rotate the bat back with THT without shoulder rotation?” – To show that the bat can be accelerated from rotation alone, THT alone and applying both at the same time generates greater bat speed than either alone.

I have tested the bat speed attained from rotation alone where the hands server as a hinge and when THT was applied. The bat speed I attained from rotation alone (PathFinder) was in the upper 40s. The bat speed from rotation plus THT (PathFinder) was in the upper 60s.

Applying THT has nothing to do with un-cocking of the wrist. There is no cocking and un-cocking of the wrists involved. It is from the forearms pushing and pulling the hands in opposing directions or at different speeds. The wrists remain at a fairly fixed angle as THT is being applied.

Shawn, I was just wondering, are you saying that just torque applied at the handle during initiation (THT) is not a factor? Or, are you saying you do not belief torque applied at the handle is a factor anywhere in the swing?
