I think Jack would disagree that both done correctly they both will be the same. His finding are very different. I suggest you read this board and the archives of Jack's posts to better understand the rotational swing.

There are several differences in the swing. What is the same is the weight shift. What is very different is how we prepare the launch. With rotational the hands remain back and the bigger muscles bring them forward and around. With linear mechanics the hands are driven forward out of the launch. Two very different ways of preparing the launch and initiating the swing. One way we are swinging the bat, the other we are pushing the bat.

Another difference that Jack discovered is the angular displacement of the bat. Rotational mechanics have a more steady acceleration from the start to the finish. Linear mechanics might have the the bat head following the hands over a greater distance. In both swings they might look similar to the naked eye, but how the swings are generated or the forces involved are very different.

Jack goes into many detials of the two approach's to the swing. You need to read his posts to better understand why they are not the same.
